Passing As Straight (Compiled by Kinyatta E. Gray) Ranked as a #1 Best Seller on Amazon
I wrote my first book 30 Days, not knowing anything about writing a book. The only thing I wanted to do was honor my mom's legacy and share the story of how we spent our last 30 days together -- not knowing that it was.
This book became a highly-acclaimed must have and was shared widely by those who experienced similar traumatic losses. I learned that I was very much like my mother, a writer. A writer with many more stories to tell. Some of us are blessed to live very normal lives with the occasional ups and downs that life often tosses our way. Others experience repeated traumatic experiences throughout their lifetime and although each experience has stolen a huge part of our lives, we find the will and strength to survive and thrive another day. That's, unfortunately, the category that I fall in.
Some things I'm willing to share for the good of humanity, to give a total stranger strength, courage, and hope. Some parts of my life are so incredibly traumatic that I will take it to the grave.
I wrote my sophomore book Passing As Straight to tell yet another painful story of my past that I overcame. I also knew that I wasn't the only one who had experienced life in that manner and therefore I offered 5 other women an opportunity to co-author this book and an opportunity to get their stories off their chests in hopes that they can connect with that one person out there experiencing the same thing.
I knew that this book could be a best seller. I wanted it to be. I prayed that it would be. I took the necessary steps to ensure that it would be.
It started in 32nd place on Amazon. At least it was in the top 100 best sellers. But that's not what I worked hard for. That's not what we all prayed for.
Several phone calls, text messages, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook posts later -- we officially ranked as an Amazon Best Seller in its category for two consecutive days straight in January 2020.
Having only been a published author for 3-months, my second book achieved Amazon Best Seller in its category!
Accomplishing this was part of my personal brand of happiness.
Since my birthday is also in January, this is the best birthday gift ever....ahhhhh the feeling of success! Be inspired.
