Get To Know the Amazing Co-Author of Passing as "Straight" ... Nikojoe Arnold

In March 2020, we will be releasing a groundbreaking publication called: Passing As “Straight”. Immediately after reading Nikojoe Arnold’s submission, I knew that she was a top contender and precisely the kind of co-author I was hoping would join me to write this epic, one of a kind book detailing the very real and personal experiences of women by society’s standards who are beautiful but are concealing a very large part of their lives. I had an opportunity to interview Nikojoe and here are snippets of our intriguing conversation. I could have sat with her for hours because it felt so great to connect with someone who could also tell MY story.

Kinyatta: It’s such a pleasure to interview you for my blog! Tell my readers your name and a little bit about your self.

Nikojoe: Thank you for the opportunity it’s a pleasure. My name is Nicole Arnold I go by Nikojoe I’m a 41-year-old mother of 3, by the way of Opa-Locka, FL I reside in Atlanta GA. I'm extra, the life of the party, I love my family and true friendships, I love creating memories and enjoying life.

Kinyatta: What made you decide that now is the time to tell your story in the book “Passing As Straight”?

Nikojoe: I decided to tell my story because living in my truth is very important to me. I’ve battled with my sexuality for so long. I somewhat came out at the age of 38 but when the situation didn’t work out I jumped right back in the closet but once this opportunity presented itself I could not let it pass me by! I’m using this platform to let everyone know I’m a happy lesbian and I’ve mastered the art of not caring about what people would think or say! I just don’t care about people’s opinions anymore.

Kinyatta: What is the hardest thing that people “passing as straight” have to deal with in life?

Nikojoe: The hardest thing for me was pretending. Dating men just cause with no emotions behind it. Also knowing my parents' dream was to walk me down the aisle to a man. But that was their dream, not mine. “Shrugs”

Kinyatta: What advice do you have to offer to someone passing as straight who wants to live their life openly because they are tired of hiding /concealing their life and love of their life?

NikoJoe: My best advice would be to choose your happiness! We as humans sometimes choose other people’s happiness over ours. Most importantly master the art of not caring about what someone has to say and live in your truth! Be you and be happy! You never know who your truth may inspire.

Kinyatta: This has been an eye open opening conversation. I appreciate you for taking the time to share parts of your life with me and for being so transparent. If my readers are inspired by your story, what are your social media handles so that they can keep up with you?

Nikojoe: Aww that will be awesome I would love to help people live in their truth my:
